Debugging Without Tears: Systematic Problem-Solving for Makers 10 Aug 2025 • 1 min read

A step-by-step approach to finding and fixing faults.

Every maker has been there: a project that should work but stubbornly doesn’t. The key to fixing it is staying calm and working systematically.

  1. Check power — Is the device actually on? Are voltages correct?

  2. Check connections — Loose jumpers or swapped wires are common culprits.

  3. Isolate modules — Test one section at a time instead of the whole system.

  4. Use tools — A multimeter or logic probe can tell you what’s really happening inside.

And most importantly, take breaks. Fresh eyes often spot what tired ones miss. Debugging isn’t failure — it’s part of the creative process.
