Upcycling Fabric Scraps into Patchwork Cushions 10 Aug 2025 • 1 min read

A zero-waste sewing project that turns leftovers into something beautiful.

Every sewing project leaves scraps — too small for garments, too special to throw away. Patchwork cushions are the perfect way to give them a second life.

Sort your scraps by colour palette or pattern style. Cut into uniform squares or rectangles, then arrange them into a design that feels balanced but not overly planned. Sew the pieces into panels, join the panels, and back with a sturdy fabric.

Stuff with a cushion insert or leftover filling from old pillows. Not only do you end up with something functional and beautiful, but you also keep fabric out of the landfill. Each cushion tells the story of past projects stitched together.
